JOYA Barcelona & SIERAAD Amsterdam Jewellery shows 2013 – Press Release:

01-RubberDippedCubeRings_StephanieBates_smlUK Jewellery Designer Shows at International Joya Barcelona Event

Stephanie Bates qualified from the prestigious Birmingham School of Jewellery and Design and takes her inspiration from areas undergoing Regeneration, such as Gloucester Docks and Birmingham’s Jewellery

Quarter. Urban buildings including old, graffitied warehouses in Digbeth, blocks of flats in Perry Barr under demolition expose their history, and the newly built, angular steel structures alongside these have offered interesting contrasts to use as a creative base. Working in a range of materials from precious metals and stones, concrete, wallpaper and enamel paint, Stephanie combines these with both traditional skills and modern design technology to create her bold jewellery.

After joining Jewellery Designers’ collective ‘JeDeCo’, in early 2012, they opened their first collaborative showroom in London’s OXO Tower, which officially marked the launch of Stephanie’s Jewellery brand.

Stephanie Bates said of her work, “‘Changes in state’ is my current collection of wearable pieces that have been inspired by architecture and its constant change through destruction and development over the years. It has been an exciting year since opening our JeDeCo OXO Tower showroom and launching my collection, exhibiting at both the Contemporary Craft Fair in Devon and JOYA in Barcelona last year. I am currently getting ready to exhibit my work for a 2nd time at JOYA this October, shortly followed by SIERAAD fair in Amsterdam during November, both of which I’m really looking forward to!’.
